Thread: windows xp pro sp2 problem!

  1. #1
    Hello everybody,
I recently upgraded my laptop to windows xp pro sp2 and I noticed a problem that I didn't experience before while I was using "home edition".

The problem: when I put my laptop to sleep (i.e: standby), I can't get it to awaken again. When I press any key, my laptop makes a woking noice but the screen stays black. It doesn't matter how long I wait, it just won't come back.

    What could this be?

Never upgrade an OS. It's better to format and fresh install.

With the limited info in your post its hard to diagnose your problem. The reason I linked you to Kelly's site. It could be a video driver issue or a usb mouse thats giving you trouble. Or something as simple as power option's in the bios or system properties. But let us know how you fixed it .

when you put your laptop in sleep mode is it plug into the mains or by battery if its battery it could be the battery is wacked.
another option try uninstalling sp2 go to microsofts website and they have a list of programs which conflict with sp2.
    uninstall it.

    good luck.
