Splitting movies can be quite intensive and irritating and may in some instances cause synch issues. I would suggest buying 90 minute or 99 minute CD-R's. I use 90 min CD-R's for all movies over and above 740,000 kb's, less than I simply over burn using cdrwin.
Try HERE for pretty good prices on 90 and 99 minute CD-R's. Good Luck.

if the file is a .mpg/.mpeg file ive found M2-editpro much easier faster reliable than tmpeg is..

I'd say Easy Video Splitter is very good.
It auto splits movies in half amongst other options
Ive had no probs using this, dead simple aswell.

PB - He did not try right, there is no reason that it should not work on a 90 minute disc for that matter. He simply is using the wrong software in my opinion. I should have stated that my apologies. CDRwin is what I use to burn anything to my large capacity media, it works great and 815 mb's will fit on a 800 mb 90 min disc without issue. I think he may be doing more here than what he has stated, if he is trying to make a VCD or other than simple data there can be several different reasons for the disc not working.
Others - And I did not state it was hard to split movies I stated it can be intensive and irritating, when it is so simple to just burn the darn thing to disc. However I have never tried some of your suggestions, I had used VD without any guide and was sort of unimpressed with my own work.
