    I found 2 512mb sticks of pc2700 memory... I have a dell 8400 and i have 3 more slots for memory. Can I install these?

    I googled Dell 8400, and it seems to me there are more than one sets of specs for that machine.

    Do you know how fast your current RAM is?

    PC2700 runs @ 333Mhz.

    Also, not saying this is the case, but I know that some of these prefabbed machines sometimes couldn't handle just any type of RAM, dunno' how later dells do in that department though.

    Unless I'm reading that wrong, the 2700 ram you've got isn't the right type of ram, unless that too is DDR2

    EDit: also, it'd slow you down even if it was ddr2, which it isn't.
