To avoid gettings errors during an install of any codec pack: 1st REboot your machine. Uninstall. REboot again. Install.
I did as you advised, but got the same errors when installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, and still no films.
I just opened my window and am ready to throw this machine out of it.

Thanks guys for the help up to now, it's 4 AM here, I'm off to sleep. B)

    Good morning Bender,

How many codec packs did you install by now?
Just uninstall all of them! I had some problems with the Klite Codec packs and the Nimo Packs.. and all others!
Except with the Xvid Codec pack from SLD! It's an older version 1.3

If you have the right version you will get images from "The Matrix" movie while installing.
And you can select Dutch as your language! (das handig maar niet echt nodig )

I just want to say that this is the only Codec i install when i'm doing a fresh WINDOWS installation, and this one never gives me
any problem what so ever! (But i use WIN ME. what's your OS?)

    Just try it..

    Good Luck!

Use the G-Spot tool on those movies that don't work. It sometimes can give you some clues about the nature of the error that is causing playback to fail.

    Try a diagnose of DirectX : windows/system/dxdiag.exe
Maybe by (un-)installing some other item it got corrupted?

@ Rocktron: I always deinstalled the old codecs before installing others, and I'm running Win98SE.

@ Paul: I didn't think of trying Gspot because all films worked fine before.
Now I did, and guess what?
On the films that do work, it says n.a. (not available I suppose), and on the films that don't work I get this error (translated from Dutch):
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Contact your supplier bla bla bla...
I'm beginning to think there's something seriously wrong, and it can't be a virus; I'm considering format C now...

My computer is balancing on the window-sill now.
