Like the topic title says, yesterday I could watch films without any problem, today everytime I try to play one, BSplayer and/or Kazaa Lite shut down.

The error I get is this (translated from Dutch): 'this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Contact your supplier bla bla bla...'.

Funny thing is, except for downloading and deleting some small files I didn't do anything.

I really don't have a clue what the problem can be, advise anyone?

hey bender, sounds like a problem i had a while back.
when i tried to open the movie files i would get the same error.
i downloaded the norton utilities software which i found on kazaa
and ran win doctor. it found all sorts of issues with my registry and
missing shortcuts and just lots of crap that causes errors. repaired them.
rebooted and the problem was gone. give it a try.
i cant remember the last time i got an error since i started using
    norton utilities win doctor.

It didn't work, I downloaded and installed it, and it fixed some stuff, but still no films.
I have reinstalled Kazaa Lite, Codec Pack (full), BSplayer, etc, now too.

I've noticed that I'm able to play some files, and that the files that don't play are all in .avi format, could that have something to do with it?
A part of the Codec Pack that isn't installed maybe?

It's beginning to sound like you need an exorcism, Bender. But here's an alternative codec pack: DivXTotalPack1.3. If this doesn't work, you might try profanity!

Profanity has been used already, without results!

I just reinstalled the Full Codec Pack again, and now I get these errors:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\l3codecx.ax

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:
    DeleteFile failed; code 5
    The acces is denied

Click Retry to try again, ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\oggds.dll

Unable to register the DLL/OCX: DllRegisterServer failed; code 0x80070078

Click Retry to try again, ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\dvobsub.ax

Unable to register the DLL/OCX: LoadLibrary failed; code 1157.
Can't find one of the required library files for this application

Click Retry to try again, ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.
In all cases Retry don't work.

I've downloaded and installed this codec pack without errors, but the results were the same:
.avi files won't play and Kazaa Lite shuts down.

The n00b in me must be doing something wrong.

To avoid gettings errors during an install of any codec pack: 1st REboot your machine. Uninstall. REboot again. Install.
