"Anyone downloading updates for Windows XP will be required to check that their operating system is genuine.

Security updates are exempt from this in order to prevent people spreading viruses across the internet."

    Eh?
What is the diffrence between an "update" & a "security update"? I thought they were all security updates.

updates will probably be things like new media player versions, the windows journal viewer thing, etc.
security updates will be anything falling under "critical" in inwdows update.

That's crap tho', I have to install XP on my brother's computer again tomorrow, and I'm not sure his key is valid now

Do you absolutely have to install something in between sp1 and sp2? 'cos I have installers for those at least.
