having a strange problem with my graphics procccessor which is an ATI radeon x700 pro. when i play a video, whether its a avi file or a dvd or whatever, i get these pixely vertical lines down the picture. I have the k-lite codec pack and the latest updates for it. The problem seems to come and go, but i have no idea whats causing it. Anybody had a similar problem or got any idea what it might be? many thanks in advance.

Try reinstalling the drivers mabye ? Cripes could be heat issues or something simple like you media player has a corrupt file or missing codecs . I'd try a different video player before I did anything else . You did n't say what one your using but guessing the avi player is Media Classic ?
Try something like Vlc media for both the file types then see what happens . My limited experiences with Video cards always point to heat or driver issues tho .

yes I have tried various media players and codecs ect. the problem now affects the display in other modes not just video playback so i think the card must be faulty. I did try reinstalling the drivers ect. even removing the card and resetting it all together, no joy.
