I've got latest firmware for my burner yet I can't burn anything... I'm trying to burn the new metroid prime wii game but nero keeps saying failed and imgburn says "I/O Error!".... what the fuck is up?
How about telling us what drive you have. what media you are burning it with, what OS you are running, what speed you are burning it at, etc???
unstall the driver
I think he means you should try and uninstall the burner through the device manager.
Then reboot and let windows reinstall it and etc.
You could try that, I guess.
How is the drive at reading stuff, though? Does it read discs you've burned before without errors? And is the lense clean and all that?
It might be that it's broken, I'm thinking, though there's too little to go by as of yet. All you can do is try and reinstall it and that kind of thing
What you COULD do is dismantle the DVD drive and remove the laser from it, attach a small battery power source and go and melt peoples faces off instead. Believe me, it can be done. But if that isnt your cup of tea, you might want to try making sure the drive has the correct master/slave settings, is recognized by the bios correctly, can play already burnt discs and is recognized by windows.
If you get passed all of that, go to Device manager, and remove any and all disc drives. Uninstall their drivers and everything. Go ahead and reboot your machine. When it reboots, do not install the driver when the prompt comes up, go to HP's website and download their driver and install that.
If that doesnt work, seriously reconsider the melting peoples faces off.
I want to know where these people are getting their specialist CD/DVD drivers. I always seem to end up with the standard ones which are supplied with Windows and work on all drives.
