    The PSP is the ultimate portable gaming device... here's everything you need to know...

    1. You will need a 1GB memory stick... Sony sells the giga pack which has a PSP with 1GB memory stick for $300... so the stick is $50.. which is nice.

    2. Your PSP will be 1.51 or 1.52... the chances of buying a 1.5 are slim to none. So you'll need to upgrade to 2.00 (do NOT use the Network Update or else you'll end up with 2.1 or 2.5).

    3. After that, you'll need to downgrade to 1.5 so you can run homebrew.

    Once you have your 1.5 PSP and 1GB memory stick... you can put so much shit into the memory stick...

    PSP games are like $40-$50 bucks each... but you can download almost all of them online... they are in ISO format. You can load up ISO's with UMD Emulator 0.8C... Then there are emulators... such as SNES, Sega Genesis, NeoGeoCD, and more.

    And yeah... it plays MP3's. If you have questions after you get your PSP... just ask.

    There are 2 gig sticks too but they are pricey. I might see if I can get one for Christmas.

    Do most of the PSPs being sold this Christmas come with a 2.0v firmware or lower?

    I heard that there are 2.5v now that arent hacked yet.

    How does one tell the difference in the firmware before accually buying it?

    Thanx

    I don't think you can tell the difference. I know the difference between teh first ones shipped and the 1.51/1.52 were that on the box it was 1001. Where as the 1.5 were 1000. This site is good for learning about upgrading and downgrading.

    I might buy a gigapack soon. I don't know whether to buy now or wait for boxing day.

    All the PSP's in stores are 2.0 or lower rght now... it IS possible to tell the difference before buying it...

    If the letter is an A or no letter at all, its a 1.50...
    A = 1.5
    B = 1.51
    C = 1.52

    Etc.

    Oh shit.

    It looks like 2.01 PSP's have already hit stores... You can't downgrade a 2.01 PSP, and you can't run homebrew on it either. Sorry man.

    Didn't you check the box using the picture I posted above? What letter is on the box?

    its a letter G

    never mind i'll just have to fork out the money for the games

    why is it that the homebrew can only be run on older systems, isnt there an alternative for newer models?
