I have worked many Christmasdays.
Double payment and many patients at home, so less work.
Also spent many Christmas days alone.
Didn't bother me, as i hate obligational diners and visits.

OK, I did visit my wife n kids for dinner but it is just not the same as being there when they open their presents.
You just can't enjoy that sort of thing from a distance.
I left shortly after the meal as it's painful being somewhere you no longer belong, watching people you love enjoying themselves knowing you've got to leave them to carry on without you.
If I hadn't left I'm sure I would've broken down, so I came home and did it here with a bottle.
