i read the instructions pleanty of times. The lynksys i had previousely worked right away but this thing wont.

I did everything the instructions said. Wouldnt there be something wrong if the lan worked and the WAN things didnt.

i go to the setup wizard it says i have a vaild connection and then it doesnt work.

You say you don't have pppoe or something like that but you don't say what you actually have. You could call your ISP to find out what type of service or even to ask them for help.

That's great that you tell us what you don't have for the second time now.

How about you tell us what you do have?

    [useless info]
I have a router and it works great!
    [/useless info]

ok, you get too damned worked up about this
put the mouse down and step away from the pc
go smoke a bowl and come back relaxed

    feel better? good
    now RTFM

I'd throw some suggestion out there, but....
I have a Belkin and our configurations may be night & day from each other
that's why they include a setup guide w/ the hardware

    ISP: SBC Yahoo DSL
Connection: 1.5 MB DOWN 386 kbps UP
    Modem: Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5100
    Router: Netgear: RP614v3
    OS: WIN XP

Previous router worked flawessly and set up without any problems. I dont have to log in to use the internet. I dont know what more to say.

I did the fucking setup many times and the shit still doesnt work. LAN works great but no internet access on any of the pc's.

Tried another same exact router and still the same problems.

Directly it works great. Anything else you wanna know?

I found this about your modem:
According to Efficient Networks/Siemens (888) 286-9375 this modem has built in pppoe and is called the 'b' version. It is configurable by using a browser pointed to http://192.168.0.1. The 'a' version has 4 LED's and no built in pppoe.
The modem is reported to work under Linux out of the box.
Thanks to R. H. for the feedback information !
Originally, the modem details were found at: http://www.efficient.com/res-modems.html
    http://www.chipweb.de/dsl/index.php?menu=2&id2=77

It seems that the modem has built-in pppoe. Not sure what it really means but somehow you have to configure your router to act like a hub or switch.
