Setup doesn't recognize bigger than 130 gb but that doesn't mean you can't use your whole disk.
But you will have other problems with SP2, when you have it installed your earlier version of XP will be too old and you won't be able to install a new windows of your old XP cd.

You can install your original pre sp1 Windows XP and then use the SP2 to update it.

You could also slipstream it as mentioned earlier.

SP2 can be downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

If you don't slipstream it you can still install it but you won't be able to use the full size of your new large HDD. So in effect you lose valuable drive space.

Once you have SP2 you'll be able to use the drive's full capacity.

Why don't you just install XP on some small partition and later create the partition ?

If your windows doesn't like large hard drives why don't you just partition the one you have into several smaller ones with its formating disk.
