u torrent connection problems

ok i did four tests results are as follows,

test one download 60.40kbps/7.55kbps
upload 36.48kbps/4.56kbps

test two download 92.16kbps/11.52kbps
upload 89.12kbps/11.14kbps

test three download 81.36kbps/10.17kbps
upload 36.80kbps/4.6kbps

test four download 64.96kbps/8.12kbps
upload 89.76kbps/11.22kbps

Aww. I'm confused there.
(sorry, for not being specific), did you stopped ALL other traffic during the tests?

My confusion lies within your use of kbps as thats is different from kBps...

kbps = kilo bit per second
kBps = kilo Byte per second

1 kBps = 8 kbps

So, Im assuming that in 60.40kbps/7.55kbps the 7.55 is kBps.

but then, thats very low. Again, did you stopped all other traffic in and out during the test?
If not, please test again w/o any other traffic.

No problem mate.

Without any doubt your actual speeds are:
47 kB/s down
12.5 kB/s up

And thhose are the speeds which you should reach with your client.
Meaning that the sum of all your downloads should equal between 45 and 50 kB.

There are few settings you must do in uTorrent (I'll try to be complete there...)

1. Options > Preferences > Connections > Bandwith Limiting > Max Global U/L > change that to 10(as your max U/L speed is 12.5 only)
2. Options > Preferences > Connections > Enable UPnP port mapping disabled (for now!)
3. Options > Preferences > Connections > Add uTorrent to Windows Firewall Exceptions > enabled
4. Options > Preferences > BitTorent > Enable DHT Network > DISABLED!
5. Options > Preferences > BitTorent > Enable DHT for new torrents > DISABLED!
5. Options > Preferences > BitTorent > Protocol Encryption > enabled
6. Options > Preferences > BitTorent > Allow Incoming Legacy connections > enabled.


What software firewall and AV are you using? Is Windows Firewall running?
Also, you need to adjust your "halfopen connections", but can't remember where to get that utility to change it for you.

ok i have followed all of that windows firewall is running and has u torrent in the exceptions also have vet anti virus and e trust patrol pest control

OK. I did a bit research on VET and E-trust. Both CA products. Having a solid reputation, being in the market as almost as long M$ is around.
Only, I have no clue if CA is BT friendly.
Let me help you by informing what must be avoided: Norton suite, Zone Alarm suite, amongst others. On the other hand Norton AV is not that bad, but still not recommended.
I'm using Kerio Personal Firewall and BitDefender AV.
My suggestion is to experiment a bit. Windows Firewall is just crap, I even removed it completely from my system.

When doing the portforwarding, be sure to follow the complete procedure, including the correct router brand/model.
In your router configuration disable DMZ totally.

hey man i got it i have the elusive green tick it was after i read those two links you sent me that i reset the global incoming download things to under 200 i used 175 and all of a sudden the green tick appeared so i went to options speed check and it came up port is open yeeehaaaw now one last thing do you know of a really good really simple to use free ftp hey listen once again thank you for all your help

SmartFTP is just one of several you can choose from.
Take a look @ http://www.filehippo.com/, over there you have several ones to choose from. Once you made up your mind which suits you best, you can get a full version from a BT site.

hi prince mate got a question for you i have just downloaded an episode of overhaulin and it says it is a windows media player program but i cant play it now that does not bother me cause i want to watch it on tv not pc so what i need is a reasonably fast converting program that will convert and then burn if you know of one i would appreciate the info i did have one i think was smartsoft converter but it took forever to convert and then the copy would stick in places also had to put up with a watermark on screen all the time due to it being only an evaluation copy

Sorry mate. I don't have any experience (yet) with converting. Thus, I'm not the right person to ask what will do the best job. However, somebody else might tell ya.
