I just use Nero on a very low speed setting, I haven't made any coasters yet...

You should also look for ps2-scene and ps2hd sites. That where new stuff happen..
Ps2Hd have a huge ps2 game compatibility charts wich can help alot.

In short, western digital aren't suitable with the network adaptor because of the way that IDE and power connectors are placed...
Exploitstation is the right place for tutorials and some usefull elf applications!
