    Rare content: eMule ftw!
    General 0day content: bittorrent
I don't think that you can get FTP access for free like the torrents and eMule. Usenet is fast and doesn't have need from seeding, but... coast money. I do not understand the idea to pay for leeching pirated (copyrighted) materials...

Speed? Max out your connection on everything you download, every time. Upload speeds? Who cares? You don't upload with newsgroups.
Content? Usenet has the same day-to-day content as bittorrent trackers, but a whole lot more selection.
    Security? Nothing could be safer.
Strange how some people forget that this is FileSharingTalk not FileLeechingTalk.
I've always read to leave uploading to Usenet to the pros, so I never bothered.

I do upload NZBs here at FST though.

I prefer bittorrent over anything I have used. I never really got into IRC too much. Most p2p networks are filled with people who don't even know what a file format is, let alone use the correct encoding for their music.

Emule for the obscure or really old files. BT for new stuff. Don't spend to much time on IRC anymore except for a few passwords for paysites.

    First, check usenet.
    Second, check private bittorrent trackers
    Third, check public bittorrent trackers
Fourth, search blogs, etc. for links
    Fifth, emule

I have always felt that one should never pay for any form of P2P.
bittorrent has such a better community than usenet. for the users of usenet its use, use, and use but never give for most of the usenet community.
I like the puff, puff give method myself

Bittorrent, I paid for a newsgroups subscription for 4 months until I realised there's better content at equal speeds for free on bittorrent if you know your stuff.

This is definitely not true Even if I also thought it was then making blanket statements like this on the internet is not a good idea since there will always be someone who disagrees.

How does usenet compare to bittorrent? Is it really worth the 18 dollars a month?

I think usenet is worth the money. The security, the speeds, and content. The speeds on there are fast all the time, no slow down. I can find stuff on there that I have trouble finding on bt sites. And since you are dling from one source that says they do not keep track of what you dl then it makes it safer than bt.
