It Looks Like VIP music is closing down now.
2007-10-26 - United we stand, divided we fall?
Whoa, so much happening lately: our CTO (Chief Technical Officer is still missing since September), Oink went down recently and VIPmusic was mentioned in the article at billboard.com as in "the IFPI's cross-hairs". Due to the fact that our CTO is still out of reach (more about our fears in the corresponding thread) we might suspend the operations. There are few things that I'd like to make clear: server HDD's are encrypted with AES and are locked out (only our CTO had access to the server because of security concerns) that is why user database would not be accessible to any third parties. Also unused donations will be sent to EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) which is fighting for free speech rights on the internet.

They expected the sites which were mentioned to get panicked which is so wrong
E**** and TT have nothing to fear about, those idiots at RIAA etc. need to join those trackers to prove they distribute music non-legally.
about STM and all others, first they need to find out where are the servers to shut them down. as long as FST users keeps their mouth shut and won't say stupid things about them they'll be fine
Bittorent rackers doesn't need to be worried as long as the servers/owners where about will be kept safe and secret

I see the fallout is still occuring. I'm sure we have a few more days before people get a clue and stop freaking out.

I believe the option of closing down was already being discussed a while before the oink bust. This just accelerated the final decision.
