    It is a fifty fifty chance of changing direction when you return your gaze to the figure.

    It all has to do with your brain not registering what you see when your eyes are moving from one fixed position to another. In layman terms you are 'blind' when your eyes are moving.It is called Saccadic movement of the eyes. If this did not happen then you would see things blurred as you looked from one direction to the other.

    Nah, it always goes clockwise for me unless I put in the effort and turn it the other way.

    Clockwise, no surprises 'cause I'm left-handed.

    And I change directions when I stare at the spinning leg on its axis. Took a few tries but now I can do it every time.
