Nice to see that you got your priorities straight now ilw

I use 800x600 because it's easier to work with small images that way.

Besides... my eyes aren't as young as they used to be!

1280 x 1024 at the moment [it depends on which monitor i'm using]

i already started a topic on may 13 What Resolution Do You Run? this is pretty much a carbon copy
so i'd bring forum rule seven to your attention;

7. Try to post in the correct forum. Take the time to look at the other topics, read forum descriptions, and see where your topic should go. Also, take the time to read the FAQs and other pinned topics. The administrators and moderators may move topics posted in the wrong areas.
I think it's general practise on this board to expect people to search before posting threads which have already been posted
i wish i could have started a poll instead, but such is life

Not wanting to start an argument echidna, but it's not surprising that a thread that hasn't been posted in for two months probably wasn't easy to spot when ultimatejester opened this one.

And if I'm reading the rule you quoted correctly... it refers mostly to posting in the wrong forum - which isn't the case here... or to duplicating "pinned" topics - which your thread isn't.

i was going to post this;
typing 'monitor resolution' into the search page, picking 'Hardwareworld', selecting 'any date' and hitting enter takes seconds
even on a slow dial up the result is available in under two minutes

but after experimenting [without putting my name in the member field] i have come to a new conclusion;

the search function sux

i was just wanting to encourage searching to try to cut down on duplication
i recall seeing a requests that similar topics be searched out before reposting somewhere here, i just figured that the rule i quoted entailed that intention
now i realise we are all destined to see the same topics ad infinitum

such is life

i didn't wanna tread on any toes by it only to try to make the board a bit more streamlined [as if that's going happen]

Oh I agree with you that the same topics/threads appear over and over ad nauseum. Often the same question is asked when the same one is just a few lines below the top - ridiculous!

And I'd imagine if someone were to try a bit, they could find your thread with the search engine.

It's just that the old thread was essentially dead when this one started and that's why I thought perhaps the jester might not have realized it even existed.

800 x 600 SVGA, it sucks, I might change it to XGA, I've used it previously, looks pretty nice, but my CRT's refresh rates are crap, so after a couple of hours at the screen, my eyes feel droopy ...
