If you enjoy security, get a certification in both A+ (to prove your more general skills) then take the Security+ (lowest level security certification)

Remember that these certifications are helpful for 2 things
1) knowledge
2) resume screening

I myself am a graduating senior majoring in Computer Information Systems. I can tell you know that just the tech knowledge isn't all you need. To actually look good you need to make sure you also can work your way through Project Management skills and be able to prove it to whoever you are trying to prove it to (though a internship, interview, etc.)

Make sure they know that you know how to take a project from the beginning to the end and know how to manage people.

This includes everything from proper documentation, goal setting, weekly reporting, meetings, workflow breakdowns, real timely projected completion times, and more.

If you can first prove that and enforce that with your technical skills, I would say that will get you in the door.
