    i hope blu-ray does lose, but hd-dvd just doesn't have the externality of blu-ray

    I was surprised, but I am kind of happy that tis is over now. Now we only have 1 big format with no worries on what to get. And players should get cheaper now.

    Why would you think that? There's less incentive now.

    There is no rival competition. This doesn't necessarily mean better prices.

    Either way, I am just happy that Blu Ray won mostly because of owning a PS3 and they hold more space on multi layers than multi layered HD-DVDs.
