Yup your right, it's just the pronunciation which you're getting wrong. Unless you actually do call yourself Scene.

Well Iwouldn't say it's wrong it's how we say it here in the USA so I guess it depends where you are in the world, not wrong different

Obviously I'm speaking from the perspective of the language where the name comes from. Which I would argue has priority. If you were speaking to someone with a French name it would only be manners to pronounce it as it would be pronounced in France. To do otherwise would be extremely rude, bordering on the offensive.

The only other alternative is to argue that Sean is an entirely different name from Seán, which is fair enough no problems with that. However there is then no justification for pronouncing that spelling as "Shaun", whether you are in Ireland, or the USA.

In short, you cant leave out the fadda and still phonetically behave as if it's there. Even in America.
