What I heard about FIOS is that you get insane uploads as well as downloads so it's totally worth it. Most ISPs will cap your upload big time.

Well let see if the Federal Govt in Australia is the real deal they reckon by 2015 Australia will have FIOS

I don't think Fios will come to Australia. Verizon has territory in parts of the U.S., but maybe your local ISPs may introduce fiber optic internet.
