There's no cancellation fee with Anytime, you just lose the rest of the month (in your case up to the 17th) (yes, I'm psychic).

The cancellation fee (£50+vat=£58.75) is BT's connection fee, so it is understandable that they want that back if you cancel the contract within 12 months.
Psychic ? Typo I'm afraid, I meant psychotic.
