Thread: Desktop dead, how can i retrieve files from hard disk?

    My desktop died, i cant startup windows, i think the processor is dead. ive got a laptop, now, how can i retrieve some files from the internal hard disk from my dead desktop to my laptop?

    whats the cheapest and fastest way to do that?

    Use a external hdd case , plug in and Bob 's your uncle . Most use a USB so its easy .

    winternals ERD. the easiest way of them all.

    Winternals requires a PC that boots, so Moss's method is probably going to be the solution.

    recover my files will recover approx 95% of files from your HDD should you be unable to see your files ising this method, be sure not to format your drive before running this program, and to have a sufficiently large HDD to transfer recovered data to, ege external drive.
