Seeding and downloading From External HDD

i killed 2x Maxtor onetouch 111 500gb drives due to torrenting 24/7. They both lasted about 4 years.

I've been seeding 24/7 on an external 500GB WD My Book, ever since I got the thing back in June or July, and I haven't experienced any problems with it. It doesn't even get hot

External hard drives are to store stuff, whatever you want, they weren't meant to seed or other things.

nail on the head. pretty much every external hard drive is meant for the storage/archive of files, and they are in fact not meant to be used regularly (although they still can be, its just not recommended) there is a small chance that regular use will shorten the life or break your hard drive eventually
