Thread: ipod+ubuntu = i need some help

  1. #1
I've been trying to put music on my ipod via Linux for quite some time now. It's pretty frustrating. I've tried Rhythmbox, amarok, and gtkpod. When I use gtk or amarok, it never recognizes my ipod. When I use Rhythmbox, It recognizes my ipod as a portable media player and I can drag music into it. It even says that it is syncing, but when I disconnect my ipod it says I have no music, but the space is still used up. Help?

if you are using kubuntu you will need to

    sudo apt-get install ipodslave

    to it work properly.

Do you your device get auto mounted? Do you see it on desktop?

Check your kernel ring buffer to by using dmesg ,see if the device really seen by system, try mount it manually. Keep in mind there is 2 partitions in such devices on for music other for its system files. Make sure to not fuck with system partition or it will end sadly.
