I saw it yesterday at an IMAX 3-D theater.
It's an astounding visual experience that more than compensated for the retarded plot and dialogue.
Seriously, if you can't see it in 3-D IMAX, don't bother...the visuals are the only thing Avatar has going for it.
If you can get to an IMAX...well, you're in for a hell of a ride.
There are several big setpiece scenes that will literally take your breath away (and maybe make you nauseous)...the technology really is as good as Cameron has been claiming.
By way of comparison...2012 is equally as stupid plot-wise as Avatar but no where near as visually arresting.
I left 2012 feeling cheated and Avatar exhilarated.
It's too bad that Cameron allowed the tech to overwhelm the story but in this first effort, I'll overlook it.
Highly recommended, with reservations.

it's a 10 year/200 million dollar cartoon, which for that kind of money I want a cheeseburger and a magical unicorn with my viewing.
looks so hawt
I saw avatar in 3D yesterday too. i thought that it was going to be all action like transformers. The movie had a pretty good story line I was suprised and for the 300 + million dollar budget, the most expensive film produced to this day, it had know room to flop. I would give it an 8/10.
It was not what I expected. I thought it would have no plot, all action. James Cameron is a genius.
Was this movie sponsored by World of warcraft or something?
