    Shut up

Maybe putting it like this will clear up things:

Think of words ending in -gry. `Angry' and `hungry' are two of them. What is the third word in the English language? You use it every day, and if you were listening carefully, I've just told you what it is.

    It's an old one.

But here are a couple of more words that actually end in -gry

aggry, a glass bead found buried in the earth in Ghana.
puggry, a light scarf wound around a hat or helmet to protect the head from the sun, and
    meagry, of meager appearance.

oh yeah, a pair more of citation marks should have been in there somewhere methinks.

Oh yeah and "the" is a denominative particle not a word, I think

Go to the top of the class. You could also say power-hungry. It is in a few dictionaries as I have printed.

Edit. Grammar not too hot tonight. Mistakes are many too.

Maybe you should've asked the question as it was supposed to be asked, rowdy....
"Word-puzzle fans and reference librarians have been trying for years to track the question's history to find the original answer. But to do that we need to know what the original question was. And there are several different versions in circulation purporting to be the original."

Depends on what version of the question you are talking about
