take about 4 - 5 hours (if you know what your doing)
Also it's not a bad idea to benchtest your components before installing in the case.
Assemble the CPU (with HSF), memory and video card and hook to a power supply.
Make sure it will post.
Then add HDD and check for post.
Repeat with optical drives, etc.
That way, after final assembly if there is a problem, you know it was with your installation into the case, not with the components themselves.

ive never put a whole pc together before as i dont trust my sel , however my mate fitted mine for me and took him about a hour, ive fitted the odd thing however.
ooo right, on this system which i bought (£699 compaq) ive upgraded:
added a cd-rw drive (which means the dvd drive dont work, cuz i aint a clue how 2 connent them both together) so now i just have a cd-rw drive.
and i added 512mb ram stick, instead of the 128mb shit compaq put in.
