I used to use Avira Antivir Free, and Nod32 (but that got too tiring to maintain).
Went with MSE and got a warning that I had a Trojan. Looked and it was a program my brother wrote in assembler on xor encryption, when I was teaching him a long time ago. So if you got an update yesterday, it was because of that. Funny that it got flagged because the code was simple and straight forward really.
Who needs cloud storage when you got the NSA?

Wow, MSE must be really hard on encrypted files. I've disabled MSE now because the laptop's slowing down.
Will have to look for a faster alternative..

Try NOD32 2.7 or the VIPRE one Chief_Garbonzo posted. Both are supposed to be very light on system resources.

AVG Latest or Nod32 2.7 are the best two - they are light on resources, never seen & run perfectly.

Kaspersky AV, but if you want something thats free I would go with MSE, I like it because its "quiet", it wont bug you much and it does the job pretty good
