I do hope that after the storm is over ggianews WILL consider some changes like moving to SIngapore for instance..

to protect more "than 165,000 Perfect 10 copyrighted images

Rapidshare Countersues Perfect 10 For Being A 'Copyright Troll' Who Only 'Shakes Down' Others

    http://www.techdirt.com/articles/201...05019802.shtml

it's sued pretty much every search engine for hosting thumbnails of images that others scanned. It's also sued payment processors of paywall sites. Its latest loss was against Rapidshare

To date, Perfect 10 has lost nearly all of these lawsuits.

This is good news. If it does go to trial, I think Giganews should win this one fairly easily, and that could establish a precedent that will help them and others later when up against deep-pocket adversaries.

There's already a precedent, overreaching companies filing frivolous copyright suits will lose pretty much every case. This however is a meaningless precedent, as it won't stop other companies from trying.

But it's pretty huge PR damage for Giga as these court things with all the appeals and stuff tend to last years and while "innocent until proven guilty" is true, some current/potential customers will be lost to competitors for sure.

My analysis: Bad in the short run for Giga, good for the other USPs. In the long run again probably bad for Giga as people find out how much they'll save with other providers.
