    i live in the uk. if a surge protector get one from ebuyer there about £5 for a 4 plug one and if i get it one from a retail shop there about £15 for the same spec (these are belkin ones and thats a good company and insure goods for loads of money )

    You can get external sensors which you tape to the equipment of your choice, and then you have to label them yourself. But the latest drives have internal temp sensors which are read through the IDE port, I believe as part of the SMART technology. I am assuming this is the type leonidas has, but I can&#39;t be sure.

    I have a seagate 120 Gb. I buyed it 7 months ago. So I guess it has this internal temp sensors you&#39;re talkin about

    I think I&#39;ll buy a surge protector as soon as possible.
