that's rite. i don't know shit bout routers. ok. so do i allow all traffic to my ip? but then doesn't that make the hardware firewall function of the router useless if everything can use ur original ip add?

maybe i'm just blabbering. ok, how bout u help me out. i have a us robotics 4 port broadband router. the link is rite here:
http://www.usr.com/support/8003/8003-ug/index.html

look in the manual and tell me how to set it up with bt. i read the how to thingy for bt with firewalls that muchspl2 gave me, and it said to enter the ports in virtual server to do the port forwarding. but that didn't seem to work, cuz i still get a yellow circle

Group 1 100-149 Allow (25,53,80,110) Can browse(80), receive(110) and send(25) e-mail only
Group 2 150-199 Block (21,119) Cannot read net news(119) and FTP(21) only
Group 3 10, 20 Block ( ) Fully access (block nothing)
so if i do this, i won't be able to go on any sites, cuz then i would only be able to access 6881-6999, rite?

that's just a sample you dont have to configure that way

just allow 6881-6999 in the access control and in virtual server

try that and see if you stilll get yellow light

if you still do just tick the option in bt to "force bt to display green if firewalled" in advanced options...

if i tick that, doesn't it mean that ur still in yellow mode, or slow mode, but ur only showing green to make u feel better?

The Default Group has no Internet access rights (Allow nothing).

Group 1 has 50 members (192.168.100.100 - 192.168.100.149). They may send e-mail (port 25), receive e-mail (port 110), and browse the Internet (port 80). Port 53 (DNS) is also necessary to resolve the domain name.

Group 2 has 50 members (192.168.100.150 - 192.168.100.199). They have access to everything except Internet news (port 119) FTP transfer files (port 21).

Group 3 has 2 members (192.168.100.10 and 192.168.100.20). They can have full Internet access (Block nothing).
wat do i put in the Group 1,2,3 members section?
