For instance, when unemployment is very low, then "job growth" numbers go way down. That's because everybody already has a job, so there aren't that many jobs that need to be created. So, some may point to unemployment at 3.5% under Trump at the end of 2019 and argue that was a good thing. Some people point to job growth being way down at that time and argue that was a bad thing. That is what makes an argument - by deciding which side's facts make the more persuasive position.
With Maddow, you can't just make up your own facts. Maddow tries to argue her "truth" that conservatives are largely ignoring the impeachment trial as meaningless political theatre, so she says that Fox News hasn't been covering the trial. Which, of course, is nonsense. It's all we hear about right now. Dems making a purely emotional case by showing videos to appeal to people's emotions, but not focusing on the ONLY issue - which is whether Trump's words were any different from political speech that happens all the time, that Dems have been engaging in constantly. The ONLY issue is whether Trump went over a line in his speech.
