xp is based on nt, use that one, I did with xp.

i downloaded the ASPICHK for NT/2K/XP (1 Kb) file which contained a text file and .reg file.
what do i do with them?

download and install this. reboot your computer and run aspichk again.

thanks, but i have XP, and the site said not to use this if you have xp:
Caution:
Do NOT install ASPI32.EXE with Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Easy CD Creator 4.x, or with Windows Media Player 7.0. If you have one of these applications (or operating systems), you will be using a different aspi layer that will conflict with the one provided in this file.
mind finding the right one for me?

it is the right one.....it can still be used with xp.
edit.....it installs the same files as forceaspi would.

That is the version I am using on xp. It works for me, the newer versions did not. ForceASPI will install them for you by running instaspi.bat in the forceaspi folder.
