have you seen the advancements divx have made in the past few years. well mp3 has not changed alot in a while as far as i can tell.

other formats are always changing there codecs. ogg, wma and others.

WMA files could also have malicious scripts innit.
Avoid WMA's at all costs.
mp3's are the most common format, for audio.
There's other formats too, but you'll
likely to need a codec or a program to run them.

pinned Bittorrent

As you can see, most of your questions are answered in these so called

As a new user of SoulSeek, your questions have been most likely

Part of the success behind mp3 format is it has not changed much,
no need to find a new codec every other week or so.

Amen lol Ok but everyone acts like the WMA is shit..but everything Ive ripped from there that is variable bitrate, or even 64bitrate sounds SO much better then 192bitrate MP3 that I get off of souldseek...whats up with that?

the perceived sound quality will depend on your soundcard and speakers (among other things)

it's generally felt that mp3's are better as a compression codec than wma though

Well they can think what they want lol. I got like some 20 dollar speakers and a 3 year old sound card...and it sounds good lol.
