in most files that suportes wmp you can transport your self to anywere in the movie,
but on some files you have to se everithing from the start and if you push stop you have to see it from the begining. ?

i had that with some SVCD/m2v files, use another player, or even AVI Preview might let you jump around
this worked for me not a solution just work around. Press fastforward on botton right hand side of media player then you cna drag slider to where you want and pres play.

This happens 2 me 2, but only in files that are .asf I think it has something 2 do with the Format its in.
Stop using Windows Media Player - its crap.
You can't play some players without the support of Windows Media Player. For example; DivX player and many others.
