the 9800 non pro is just an underclocked 9800 pro with slightly slower ram, great performance. You can usually find them for $250 at circuit city
i thought the all the pro version was teh overclocked version of the non-pro

Adam, he doesnt really have a budget..at first he was gona get the 9800XT but he doesnt really wana spend that much. Its all his parents money for xmas newayz lol. Hes also getting an asus mobo..prob the deluxe and a 2500XP with dual channel ram that I will be building him. He says that in 4 months games will require that much...I dont think so at all.

you will be building this? Cool:

this 9700 pro might just be a better buy

the 9800 non pro might cost a little more, but very similar performance. The 9800 non pro is clocked slightly slower than the pro and the ram is slower...but should be able to run at 9800 pro speeds....just like I have the 9800 pro to run at XT speeds...

even better--a 9500 pro for under 200 bucks!

that looks nice man... i would go with 9700... low price, hell i handed out 600 dallers for a Vid card a few years ago that today is up to par, and that one looks like it will do the same for less.

if anyone cares, i'd go with a 9700 pro if u can afford it, or a 9500 pro. the 9800 is very similar performance wise, and the 9700pro can be oced to meet 9800 specs

Hes stubborn as fuck man...He wont get the 9700Pro no WAY cuz it doesnt say 9800 on it...and like some guy at this ripoff store told him he needed PC4000 and stuff with a 2500 which is 333Mhz FSB..damn that pisses me off so now hes like...are you sure that 3200 will be enough...lol And he has to be right all the time...inferiority complex maybe..i duno but he always wants to be right so theres no way he would say "oh well the 9700Pro does look good ill get that" He doesnt know much about hardware and he is stubborn lol.

Why is the 9500Pro so good? Doesnt it have 8 pipelines or something..and why does that make it better

And how long before 256MB cards are actually USED? Or games need that much? like in months..

    the 9500pro is 8 pipelines

and 256mb won't be in the minimum system requirements for at least a few more years

and ur friend is really really stuborn. u don't need pc4000 to oc an amd. pc3200 is fine. as long as u get good heat disappating thingies, and u know how to configure the fsb:ram ratio in bios. i would do that, but my bios is weird and messed up
