    Kirk Gibson

    Oct 15, 1988

Hit the game winning 9th inning homerun off Dennis Eckersly off his only working leg.

    THE CALL
"Gibson . . . swings! And a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5-4! I don't believe what I just saw! . . . I don't believe what I just saw!" -- Jack Buck, CBS Radio.

I couldn't either, it was surreal. I still can picture us all standing around the TV ready to go out and party once the Game was over.
Aren't we in the trust tree, thingey?

In that case I'm going with Robert Hatch's great penalty save in the last minute of the Allies Vs Germany 1943

Tommie Smith at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. A brave man making his stand on the big stage.

I'm quite surprised no-one has mentioned the 1985 European Cup final at the Heyssel Stadium. That shocked me!!

    Bradford.

    Hillsborough.

Ayrton Senna crashing and his subsequent death.

The Lakers "Three-peat" of the NBA championships

also... Pete Sampras' game in Australia when he was down by 2 sets to love, just after his coach died, and someone in the crowd shouted "do it for (dont know what the name of the coach was)"... Sampras played the rest of the game crying, and won the game in 5 sets... one of the most amazing comebacks in tennis history.
