Uh...everything on your computer looks pretty good. If I was you, I would get the highest CPU your mobo can handle...cuz everything else looks fine. Then do a fresh install of windows after a formatt of the harddrive, and it should be a ton faster.
[SIZE=1]AMD 4200 X2 @ 2.65Ghz, ASRock 939-VSTA
1.75GB PC3200, 2 X 160GB Seagate w/ 8MB Buffer
HIS Radeon X800 Pro, Antec Super Lanboy Aluminum
Ive already done that (i havent bought a new cpu though) whats wrong with my computer? BTW my mobo is only 4X AGP.Originally posted by bigdawgfoxx@30 June 2004 - 00:02

I'm willing to bet you have a shitload of spyware on your computer. Run spysweeper or some other spyware removal program.
Also look at my pinned guide (link in sig) and follow teh services.msc and msconfig parts.
Last, download the latest video drivers from www.nvidia.com.
Now that i notice your specs, you have absolutely no need for a better computer. Motherboard possibly, since it is only 4x, but i doubt you will notice much diffference...

I can run farcry flawlessly with a p4 2.0 at high settings with a ati 9700 pro. Check VB''s post again might solve your problem. And try different vid drivers .
Edit I don't know my video cards that well but that's a nice card is'nt .
Your best bet would be a good new mobo that supports 800Mhz FSB, and like a 2.8Ghz P4
Or get a new AMD board with a 2500XP for like $160. That would be cheaper and really good.

You run Farcry at high settings flawlessly???? WTF my computer lags at medium settings and I have no spyware on my comp. or any shit like that.
I have no spyware, no viruses,I had recently reinstalled windows xp, I defrag my hardrive like every couple of weeks, I have the latest video card drivers from nvidia and sttill get the same lag in far cry also a get a short pause every time I turn and shoot. Any other suggestions?
So I should get a p4 2.8ghz? how much would that and a good mobo cost?
He has a 9700Pro like me, and you have a 5700Ultra, thats why his runs so good.
If you dont want to spend a lot, your best bet would be AMD
Asus A7N8X $80
AMD 2500XP $80
For $160
Asus P4C800 $160
Intel P4 2.8C $180
For $ 340
Thats a really nice board though, you can prob get a decent one for around $100
