Flash in Windows with MTK WinFlash (http://digi.rpc1.org)
Or Flash in DOS with mtkflash
Use this command: "mtkflash X w /b 16x422O.bin"
Where X is replaced by one of the following:
1 - Primary Master
2 - Primary Slave
3 - Secondary Master
4 - Secondary Slave
looks like you have... a Relisys/Teco DVD-8216. i can't find any other drives that use a firmware labelled "version 422N."
here's hacked firmware for that drive, but the description only mentions it being region-free hacked... so i have no idea if it affects the ripping speed.

the only forum thread about it doesn't shed any light either.

you might wanna just get rid of it and get a different one. do a bit of research and make sure that the next drive you get has good movie-ripping speed (or that rpc1.org has a firmware to increase its rip speed), before you buy.

i like the quote in your sig.
I just downloaded a cracked firmware for my toshiba sd-m1612. Makes it region free and lets it rip at full speeed, as well as making cds read at 48x (although i think it already did lol).
Flash went without a hitch, i recomend u try the same thing...although it did require me to put my floppy drive back in the computer.
Im now looking for firmware for my cd-rw drive's. Not finding anything for either of them though. I posted on another forum about my dad's though. hopefully i can get that one running faster.

The funnier thing is if you read the other comments from where I got that quote people take the guy seriously.
