whats the best software to format a HD? I've just got an old one from a friend with a bunch of stuff on it and i want to reformat it and remove all partitions, etc. Thanks

Does it already have an OS on it? If its windows, right before it loads up, get it in command prompt mode, then type format (your HD name):. I find that simplest.

woowoo
to format it just go into my computer>right click the drive>format.
if you need to partition it right click my comp>manage>diskmanagement>right click the drive>delete the current partition>right click unpartitioned space and you can make partitions this way, one at a time, until all of the space is taken up.
if you want to change the partitions size without losing all of your data you will need a program like Partition Magic or acronis partition manager.
