Anyone with half a brain will tell you this, try it with any game and a keygen. It will not work.

In conclusion a keygen is just that, a key generator. It generates valid keys, the same keys that get printed out and put inside boxes or on the cd cases. I've played several games online games with keys from a keygen because it works. In the case of games like half life 2, warcraft 3 etc games that require online checking of the cd key, giving the crackers no means to find the validation method and produce a keygen. I really can't be bothered downloading Doom 3 for the sake of seeing if I can play it online, and hey maybe you are right, personally I don't see how ID software can block all of those legitmate cd keys but i'm not going to any lengths to try and prove it.

You can't prove it 'cos your full of it mate or just sorely mistaken. ID could block millions of keys if they wanted because the number of potential keys is in the billions.

For Doom 3 you'd need a keygen or that "million list" to activate the game. However to play online you'd need the online crack that does something completely different to enable online play.

So one of you is saying that the keys are not real keys from a Game copy, the other is saying that the potential keys produced is in the billions. When you can both come up with one standard plausable arguement as to why a generated key won't work online, then I will go back through all the games i've played online and show you the keys I used if you really can't grasp the fact that yes games can be played online with genned CD keys. Maybe Doom 3 is some extra special case seeing as I havn't looked into it but I fail to see how a generated real cd key, that hasn't been activated by anyone else, and the appropriate online patches and cracks will not allow you to play online.

Im not 100% sure how companies block cd keys. And no Doom 3 has no extra special proection at all. Keygens will make keys that allow you to play single player, perhaps, but none of them will get through the authentication server. They can generate keys which appear valid to a game, but once they try to hit a server online they can't get authenticated so you cannot play online with them

Yep theres an online patch for Doom 3, thats a patch isnt it, not a cd key.
