Minimum requirements for Powerpoint include: Operating System Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 (SP6) or later,* Windows 2000, or Windows XP or later.
So your DVD player would have to be able to run an OS.
but im sure its possible to convert a powerpoint slideshow to avi/mpeg?
eg google result #1: http://www.powerpoint-to-dvd.com/

you could google "powerpoint mpeg" and then flick through some of the other results, crossreferencing with your favourite source of software
