Anyways, it seems that a lot of people like AMD here.

But what bothers me about AMD is the fact that a processer is marketed at 3000+ but in fact it runs at 1.8Ghz. I know that the AMD can perform more instructions each time it processes, but can it really match the speed of a real 3.0Ghz processor?

You know now many times that same question has been asked here?

If you spend, lets say, $200 for an Intel CPU or you spend $200 on an AMD CPU then the AMD will outperform the Intel. That's what matters. Not the actual clock speed.

well it seems that you have a pretty good deal there and you can easily game with the most recent games with that i just reccommend a bit more ram. Also maybe if you scope out ebay for a week you can get a good deal on good sual core processor for 200 buks i say this because games will eventually start using both cores and it will make your comp last longer anyways this is my opinion.

If you have a PCIe slot then use that type instead. In fact choose a motherboard that has only one type.

You will need more than 300W. Enermax is good.

If you're building a new s939 system you'd be crazy to invest in an AGP vid card.
OR a board that supports both PCI-E and AGP.
Maybe this Asus instead?

The Nvidia 6xxx range are all PCI-E based as standard. In order to make them backwards compatible with AGP a converter chip has to be added. Naturally that costs money, so AGP cards are more expensive than the corresponding PCI-E card.
PCI-E card $120 US
AGP Card $149 US

The 6600 card is ok, but if you don't need the highest resolutions you might be better off with a 128MB 6600GT, or spend a little more on a 256MB 6600GT.

I see you aren't going to trust the 420W psu that comes with the case - very wise.

However, the 300W psu you've chosen isn't going to provide sufficient power, the low price is probably because they are having trouble getting rid of them. With those specs I think you need a dual 12v rail psu providing about 450W, so that's going to cost a fair bit more.

If you like Enermax, something like this is nearer what you need.

Other than that, your choices look fairly reasonable.
