I'm willing to pay a fine just to elude a ban. The police said that it might work in my favour because there was no one on the road and the conditions were good

I do need my licence for work purposes as well
The ban is mandatory, you'll definitely get one.

As JP said, the length will be decreased if you're willing to pay more.

I'm also hoping that i can plead guilty by letter

Other wise i've gotta drive all the way up there to get banned and try to get back

    It's also my first offence

Write to the Court and be really apologetic, explain that you were in a hurry to get somewhere, make it believable and realistic. No point in saying that you were late for promised bum secks with your Grandad or anything. Well that may impress some Sheriffs.

Explain that you really need your licence for work purposes and that you may lose your job if you lose the licence.

If you are willing, ask if they can punish you by a fine rather than a ban. Again apologetic and it won't happen again.

This may serve to shorten the ban (I have even seen it avoided, but that would be rare).

    Good luck btw.

    Mine were not affected.

In fact I had an extra year no claims bonus so they actually went down the year after I did the same thing as effy.

Yeah, it only affects your premiums if you actually 'fess up to your insurance company...

You could also offer to go on some 'safer driver' training course. This is in operation in some areas to avoid points and stuff, but might show enough remorse (lick lick) to avoid a ban.

So one came out with a good excuse today at work to say. I was clocked at 107.9 MPH. Now because it was a hire car from europcar i could say that i thought the speedo was in kph, which works out at 66 mph

Do you think it would work
