win xp pro is already bootable, i assume its an image file, so burn it with nero as other>image then simply reboot with the cd in the drive...
can i pick your brain some more .
i downloaded win server 2003
it starts to install but when it reboots it says insert cd
i have copyed the file to cd using nero but it does not recognize it
any advice
have you set your machine to boot from your cdrom drive, for by that it should be booting to the cd if your boot sequence includes the cd-rom drive before your hdd, anyway, could be a combination of things here, one of which is the fact that its not bootable, im not too sure...
you can change the boot sequence in the bios
i want to get xp but i have a hp com
U need to change your bios settings to allow the comp to check for a bootable cd first.. then your HD.
If thats ok, get the xp bootdisks: http://www.bootdisk.com
Make sure your burning an actual image and not just burning the raw data to the disk.Originally posted by gary@9 July 2003 - 12:53

if you have at least 64 mb ram memory xp professional will run nobother at all but to install service pack 2 which has fire wall protection you will need at least 6gb hard drive as sp2 requires 3gb space for files but xp has service pack 1 without fire wall which is fine please email me if you need help all the best DavidGarden [email protected]
