Jordan and Ervin for sure. I think Kareem would be my third.

Well, it's a tossup between these three greats:
1. MJ - No Doubt, THE Greatest Athelete, Revolutionized Basketball
2. Wilt Chamberlin - Amazing shooter and all-around player, 56 regular season records.
3. Bill Russell - Celtics didn't have as many weapons MJ had when they won all those titles.
Honorable Mentions: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Bob Cousy, Julius Erving, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Oscar Robertson, and JJ Redick (May be a LITTLE biased there..)

I don't think Kobe has that "it" factor, you know the thing that seperates the best of the best. Kobe has won championships, true, but he also had arguably the best center of my lifetime as a teammate. Guys like Kobe are just too selfish too be considered in my top 2 of all time.
I think Lebron has the makings to be better then a lot of players. At the pace he's going he will be a top 5 of all time in my book, as long as he wins a few championships that is. And, depending on what he does along the way, could be top 2 or 1 for sure.
Today is the day.
I'm no Kobe fan at all but:
1. He does have the "it" factor. He scored 81 points in a single game ffs, has multiple Championship rings, and is only like 26 yrs old or something.
2. Jordon was probably the most selfish player on the court that I ever watched. That didn't stop him from being the best though.

How can you say that immediately after saying Kobe scored 81 points.
Jordan made his whole team better. Everyone remembers the championships. It wasn't just Jordan. Ever heard of Pippen, even John Paxson?
Oh and about Kobe
You need to check out Gilbert Arenas. The Wizards have the highestr scoring trio in NBA (Arenas, Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison).Bobcats 133, Lakers 124, 3OT
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Kobe Bryant scored 58 points, but committed two key errors in the third overtime and the Charlotte Bobcats outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers 133-124 on Friday night.
Bryant spoiled the third-highest point total of his career by committing a foul on Derek Anderson's 3-point attempt with 1:14 left. Anderson hit all three free throws to give Charlotte a 129-124 lead.
Bryant then missed a long jumper and fouled on a charging call on the next possession to end his night. Bryant hit 22-of-45 shots and his performance trailed only his 81-point game last January in Toronto and a 62-point game last December in Dallas.
Emeka Okafor had 22 points and a career-high 25 rebounds, Gerald Wallace scored 28 and Matt Carroll added a career-high 27 points for the Bobcats, who played their first triple-overtime game in franchise history.
Raymond Felton added 22 points and 15 assists in 57 minutes for the Bobcats, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Rookie Adam Morrison was held to five points on 1-of-15 shooting, but the Bobcats were able to get another win against a good team. Five of Charlotte's eight victories have come against Utah, Detroit, Orlando, San Antonio, and the Lakers, who ended a six-game road trip 3-3 despite Bryant's third 50-point game of the season.
The trouble was nobody else scored more than 14 points or took more than 10 shots for the Lakers and Bryant appeared to tire down the stretch.
Bryant curiously passed up on throwing up a prayer at the end of the second overtime and Sasha Vujacic couldn't get a shot off at the buzzer, creating the NBA's second triple-overtime game in three nights. New York beat Detroit 151-145 on Wednesday night.
Bryant missed two jumpers at the end of regulation, including a 20-footer at the buzzer, and Felton missed two shots in the final five seconds of the first overtime for Charlotte.
Wallace fouled out late in the first overtime when he picked up two fouls in 15 seconds trying to guard Bryant.
Bryant's 3-pointer with 2:34 left in regulation snapped a tie and his fadeaway with 1:47 left made it 101-98. But Carroll's floater and a putback kept the Bobcats in it, and Wallace's three-point play with 43 seconds left tied it.
Bryant scored 27 points in the first half, but picked up his fourth foul - and a technical foul for arguing - with seven minutes left in the third quarter.
He sat out the final five minutes of the period and the Bobcats took a five-point lead on Carroll's 3.
Bryant didn't take long to wow the crowd of 19,561, the largest in the arena's two-year history. He hit six of his first seven shots, including a spectacular one-handed dunk off an alley-oop pass, to give the Lakers a 22-12 lead. The Lakers led by as many as 14 in the first quarter. ^
I just watched them play Orlando and he is one of the best players I have ever seen and is a treat to watch.
He just rips apart teams. When he was pretty much booted out of the World Championships, he came to Barry Farms Projects and played in a streetball league and was amazing. Steve Francis showed up as well but brought his own 5. Gil played with the locals.
Kobe is a bitch. After Gilbert pumped 60 on his ass, he tried to downplay it.
Gilbert Arenas set an NBA record by scoring 16 points in OT (5 minutes).
Guess who was checking him in OT.
The Wizards also snapped the Dallas Mavericks 12-game, and the Suns 15-game winning streaks.
Gil is cooking hibachi and is coming to your town.
It was a selfish performance, yes. But the most selfish player would have been Jordan imo.
Sure I remember Pippen and John "3-point" Paxon, Cartwright and the rest, but MJ was a ball hog. He justified it, but was a hog none-the-less.
I can't really discuss present basketball at all though. I can't stand to watch it. So whatever all that was about in your previous post means nothing with my basketball ignorance.
