i'd recommend AVG to
im using AVG aswell..
Had a few small problems in the past, but all seems to be well now.
Correct, that's why I said that it doesn't mean the program isn't any good, but it's always good to know a little bit more why something like this is for free. So I'm not encouraging people to stop using it, but just simply stating a point cause this topic is about free anti-virus progs and it makes me wonder why on earth a EULA would contain those things if not for using it in the near future.
Using Avira Antivir myself. It's really good and the problems with updating are solved uptil now.

NOD32 for me... It is very lightweight...
If you download NOD32 (trial version) you can activate and keep activating using the 'fix' from Nsane Productions.
Avast is a good free antivirus..
Avast is the best free antivirus but BitDefender is the best antivirus in the world
I don't think you can beat AVG for a free virus scanner.
I also used the Nod32 which is very powerfull antivirus don't go for
any other antivirus.
