i meant 2.3 megabits/sec. but after i ran that automatic configure thing on pc pitstop, the speed stayed the same. it was 2.3 megabits/sec before... did i do something wrong?

If you're running XP/NT then that shit won't do anything unless your system is already screwed. All you need to do is check the TCP recieve size. This one is for windows 2000 server but XP should be similar.

You can search a bit more by typing "increase the tcp receive size in win2k and XP" into google.

Thats why I allways point people towards using the PC Pitstop Internet Speed Autofix.
It just modifies the Recieve buffer size.
and u can revert back to your original with the same fix
if it causes you problems.

Use the ping test on PC Pitstop to diagnose latency.
If your ping times are usualy greater than 100ms(typical latency)
then adjust yout receive buffer size to 64240.

If you ping times are less than 100ms (low latency)
set your receive buffer size to 32120.

Balamm hit the nail on the head,when he said that
the receive buffer size tweak is the only one that matters.

Most others are urban myths.

when i go to TCPwindowsize it says its value data is @ 256960 (decimal).........
r u telling me to set it to a lower number of 64260 or is lower better?

You really need to do some tests but keep in mind that this is normally an automatically adjusted setting in win2k and XP. once you change it, it won't be atomatically adjusted any more.
There are procedures using command prompt and ping to test each setting.
You would increase the size a bit at a time untill it reports fragments and then back it off untill it's ok again.

i have broadband and it dls at 50kbs normally and somtimes 70kbs but itz still not az fast as the ads on tv.


does someone have a easy way to get dls quicker without any problems and having to edit registry keys and that?

OK..i set my buffer speed to 999999 and it tested the EXACT same as before...1.3 megabits...6.5 seconds to download 1 megabyte...why no change? and i dont believe the guy that got up to T3
